1. Password protection - prevents unauthorized access to MedicMate
2. Encryption - all data, including patient identifiable information, is under 128 bit encryption whilst on the PDA and during wireless handover to other devices
3. Database location - store the MedicMate database on a removable storage card which can be ejected and retained on the work premises
